some of days

good morning darling
misty here this morning
the oaks have dropped their leaves
here are some images & impressions from the last few days

***
the little gift from friends
exquisite serviette
ghostly white on white
pattern nearly invisible
as with fogbound oaks at dawn
interlaced, electric, bare, entwined
whose capillary embroidery appears
when pale light illuminates them
from behind

***
a trip to Poets House, to see the exhibit of Emily Dickinson manuscripts

Emily's recipe for coconut cake
the form of her recipe
is like that of her poems
brief staccato lines, unelaborated -
and dashes!
Letter #623, after Christmas 1879, to Mrs. Henry Hills

***
a trip to MOMA

one of the exhibits was a participatory environmental installation - a labyrinth - by Brazilian artist Carlito Carvalhosa

***
there were glimpses of venerable warhorses as I wandered in search through labyrinthine galleries...

... there was a Bonnard
...and a Joseph Cornell box

alas, no Picasso Minotaurs, my dearest -
but a DeKooning Labyrinth
